B2B marketing consulting for wine industry suppliers

B2B marketing consulting is for wine industry suppliers with people who can do the work and need direction. I review how you win business today, build a B2B marketing strategy with you for reaching more wineries, then coach your sales or marketing team as they put it to work.

“I want my team to know exactly who to target and how.”

If that sounds like you, this is the page for you.

  • A review of your sales pipeline, customers, website, trade show results and marketing spend
  • A B2B marketing strategy: which wineries to target, what to say to them and through which channels
  • A plan for the year built around bottling, harvest and your trade shows

  • Guidance on new markets across the UK, France and the US

How I work

Your team keeps the work and the decisions. I bring the strategy, the outside view and what I've learned about how wineries buy. Each session ends with a short list of what to do next.

When consulting is the right fit

Consulting suits you when you have capable people and want a clear direction for them.

Your situation What we work on
Your sales come from relationships and you want a second engine A marketing plan that brings in new wineries alongside your reps
You’ve hired a marketer who is new to the wine trade Coaching on how wineries buy and what they want to hear
Your trade show budget is large and the return is unclear Which shows to attend and how to follow up on them
You’re launching a product or a new line Who to approach first and how to explain it
You’re entering a new country How wineries there buy, and what to change for them
You work with agencies and want a second opinion What to ask for, what to pay for and how to judge the results

How it runs

  1. We start with how you win business today. I look at your best accounts, your lost quotes, your sales cycle and your spend. The marketing audit can form this first step.
  2. We build the strategy together. You leave with a defined list of target wineries, a clear message for each type of buyer, chosen channels and a plan for the year.
  3. I coach your team through the work. We meet regularly to review results, solve what’s stuck and set the next steps. Between sessions, your team can send me drafts for feedback.
  4. We adjust around the season. A big harvest, a poor one or a new competitor all change what wineries need, and the plan moves with them.

What a B2B marketing strategy covers

A strategy is a set of decisions your team can act on. Mine fits on a few pages and answers these questions:

  • Which wineries are worth winning, by size, region and style of production?
  • Who decides, who influences, and how long does a decision take?
  • What do you do better than the alternatives, in words a winemaker would use?
  • Which channels get your budget this year: trade shows, search, LinkedIn, email or reps?
  • How should marketing hand a lead to sales, and what counts as a good lead?
  • What will you measure each month to know it’s working?

What I need from you

Your customer list, your recent quotes and your sales figures, as they stand.

Time with your sales and marketing leads, because they already know why deals are won and lost. Access to your website, analytics and CRM reports.

And one person who owns the plan between sessions, because coaching pays off through what gets done.

Who this suits

Suppliers with a sales or marketing team who would rather build their own skills than hand the work over.

It suits you best if someone in the business has time to carry out the plan. If the time isn’t there, my other supplier services put the same thinking to work with me doing the delivery, and we can move between the two as your team grows.

How you will know it is working

The numbers we pick together in the strategy, reviewed at every session: qualified enquiries, quotes issued, new winery accounts, or whatever matters most to your business.

You’ll also see the change in your team. Sales and marketing work from one target list, campaigns get approved faster, and every pound of budget has a reason behind it.

I've worked as a winemaker and I've run search and email marketing for the companies selling to wineries, including Golden State Box Factory. I know how both sides of the sale think.

Questions

What does a B2B marketing consultant do for a wine supplier?
A B2B marketing consultant works out which wineries are worth winning and how they buy, sets a strategy and a plan to reach them, and guides your team through the work. You keep the marketing in-house and gain senior advice from someone who knows the wine trade.
How is this different from hiring you to do the marketing?
With consulting, your team does the work and I guide it. With my other supplier services, I do the work myself. Many suppliers mix the two, keeping sales and trade shows in-house and handing me the website, search or email.
Do you work with our sales team as well as marketing?
Yes. In a supplier business the two are closely tied, so I often work with the sales lead directly. A shared view of target accounts and what counts as a good lead helps both sides.
Can you help us enter the UK, French or US market?
Yes. I work across all three in English and French, so I can show you how wineries in each market buy, which trade shows and publications matter and what to change on your website and in your messaging.
Do you only work with wine suppliers?
Wine is my specialism, and I work with any business selling to wineries: dry goods, equipment, services, labs and technology. If wineries are only part of your market, we'd focus the work on that part.
How do we start, and what does it cost?
It starts with a free 20-minute call, where we work out how much support makes sense for your team. I then send you a quote for that scope.
